Ford Environmental Ltd recognises its responsibility to protect the environment and aims to minimise the environmental impact of its operations while delivering safe and professional asbestos and environmental services.

1. Our Commitment

We are committed to conducting our activities responsibly and complying with applicable environmental legislation, regulations and waste-management requirements.

Environmental considerations form part of how we plan, undertake and review our work.

2. Our Environmental Objectives

Where reasonably practicable, we aim to:

  • Prevent pollution and uncontrolled releases
  • Reduce unnecessary waste
  • Use materials and resources efficiently
  • Manage hazardous materials responsibly
  • Segregate waste appropriately
  • Use authorised waste-management routes
  • Reduce unnecessary energy and fuel consumption
  • Consider environmental impacts when planning work
  • Continually improve our environmental practices

3. Asbestos and Hazardous Waste

Asbestos-containing waste requires controlled handling, containment, transportation and disposal to prevent the uncontrolled release of asbestos fibres and protect people and the environment.

Where asbestos waste arises from our activities, it will be handled in accordance with the applicable legal requirements and relevant waste procedures.

4. Waste Management

We aim to apply responsible waste-management practices throughout our operations.

This includes, where applicable:

  • Correct identification of waste streams
  • Appropriate containment and labelling
  • Preventing cross-contamination
  • Using appropriate waste carriers
  • Using authorised disposal or transfer facilities
  • Maintaining required waste documentation

5. Pollution Prevention

Work will be planned with consideration for preventing avoidable contamination of air, land, water, buildings and surrounding areas.

Suitable controls will be considered for dust, debris, hazardous materials, waste, liquids and other potential pollutants arising from our activities.

6. Resource Efficiency

We aim to avoid unnecessary consumption of materials, fuel, electricity, water and other resources where reasonably practicable.

Procurement and working practices may be reviewed to identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

7. Transport

Vehicle use is necessary for many of our operations.

Where practical, we aim to plan journeys efficiently and avoid unnecessary travel while maintaining operational and safety requirements.

8. Suppliers and Contractors

We expect contractors and suppliers working with Ford Environmental Ltd to comply with applicable environmental requirements relevant to their activities.

Environmental performance may be considered when selecting suppliers, contractors and waste-management providers.

9. Training and Awareness

Personnel will be provided with appropriate information, instruction or training relevant to the environmental aspects of their work.

Employees and contractors are expected to report environmental incidents, spills, uncontrolled releases or other concerns promptly.

10. Environmental Incidents

Environmental incidents will be taken seriously.

Where an incident occurs, appropriate action will be taken to control the situation, minimise further impact and investigate the cause where necessary.

11. Legal Compliance

Ford Environmental Ltd aims to comply with applicable UK environmental legislation and relevant requirements associated with waste, hazardous materials and our operations.

12. Continual Improvement

As the business develops, we aim to review our environmental performance and identify reasonable opportunities for improvement.
